Accessibility Statement for Kingstown College

Kingstown College is committed to making our website as accessible as possible to all users, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to ensure that our digital platforms are inclusive and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities.

Our Commitment

We strive to meet or exceed the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, which are internationally recognised standards developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Our goal is to provide a positive and seamless user experience for all visitors by continually improving the accessibility of our website and digital resources.

Current Accessibility Status

Following a detailed accessibility audit, we recognise that certain elements of our website do not yet fully align with WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards. We have already initiated efforts to address these accessibility challenges.
While we are committed to creating an inclusive digital experience, we acknowledge that full compliance is a gradual and ongoing process. We are investing the necessary time, expertise, and resources to ensure our website is accessible to all users.

The audit revealed several areas that require improvement:

  • Some elements did not meet the minimum colour contrast ratios
  • Some links are not clearly identifiable
  • Heading order is not correct in some places
  • Some page elements are not properly marked by landmarks
  • Some images are missing alt text

We are actively working to address these issues and are prioritising:

  • Improving text and background contrast ratios
  • Adding descriptive link texts and alternative text for images
  • Implementing proper semantic HTML structure and ARIA landmarks
  • Conducting a full-domain scan to catch additional accessibility gaps

Accessibility Features Available

Despite some issues, many features of our website do comply with accessibility standards, including:

  • Keyboard navigability for most interactive elements
  • Responsiveness across devices and screen sizes
  • Use of structured headings and clear content hierarchy on several pages
  • There are no flashing animations

Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is an ongoing process. We are currently working on:

  • Conducting further testing across more of our website pages
  • Integrating accessibility into our design and development workflows
  • Ensuring all video content is captioned
